What important to know before the class:-

Bhangra Dance is a hard-core workout activity as well. So this dance may not be suitable for you if you have a recent surgery or acute physical challenges or something which makes your body painful to move/jump fast. Although we inspire everyone to participate, but we also suggest you to listen to your body. As everyone’s case may be different, so you can come to try and see first if you can adapt to this form of dance as our space is non-judgmental, inclusive and caring. But if you can adapt to it, this can become the best workout for you.

History/Background of the Dance:-

Originally the dance of Sikh-Punjabi farmers, Bhangra is often called the folk-dance of Punjab. Bhangra is entertaining and also a great high-energy workout activity. This form of dance is also used by many participants for fitness or weight-loss goals!

What to Wear:-

Any kind of comfortable clothes are OK, but a T-shirt or tank-top with yoga/exercise pants or shorts are most suitable for Bhangra dance jumps. Please come in workout or running or sports shoes! Please do bring a bottle of water!

When you think of Bhangra dancing, the Yukon isn’t the first place you think of but thanks to one man, that perception is changing. Gurdeep Pandher teaches Bhangra to his Whitehorse neighbours and has been making waves with some of the videos he has created as well.
